Summer 7s season has begun! Come on out and get ready for the summer tournaments...or just have a run and some fun. Practice is every Tuesday and Thursday night at Riverbottom Field (6:00). All new players are welcome--for directions to the practice and match pitches, check the Directions page or call Matt (403-2084) or Bo (440-1118). Also, we have partnered with scrumbot.com to set up an online store for AGRFC merchandise. Check out the AG RUGBY ONLINE STORE page for details!
Though our win-loss record was not ideal, our record of improvement, hard play, and sportsmanship was perfect last year. We have gained a league-wide reputation as the best hosts in the league, and all of the other clubs (as well as the referees) have personally expressed their appreciation to Bo and me about our style of play, class, and the quality of our members and facilities. In short, we had a great year on and off the pitch. Considering the fact that we had about 15 to 20 rookie and first-year players, AGRFC is definitely a club on the rise, and we will be competing for one of the top spots in the league very soon!
Welcome to our official website! The Arroyo Grande Rugby Football Club is located in Arroyo Grande, 10 miles south of San Luis Obispo, on California's central coast. 2007 marked the Arroyo Grande Rugby Football Club's 10-year anniversary. Since its inception, the club has enjoyed many successes, including winning the Southern California Blue Division title in 1999. Off the field, the club strives to be a beneficial community member by sponsoring a number of benevolent activities every year. We believe the character of our membership is our most important resource and our number one priority. Our organization was founded on three pillars: HONESTY, INTEGRITY, and COMMITMENT. These philosophies will remain for the life of our club. We compete in the tough men's 2nd Division of the Northern California Rugby Football Union, and play our home games at the beautiful Don and Oliver Talley Memorial Fields in Arroyo Grande. We welcome all interested players and supporters, either new to the game or experienced. Please come out to practice or contact us for more information on joining the club as a player or booster.
"I prefer rugby to soccer. I enjoy the violence in rugby, except when they start biting each other's ears off." - Elizabeth Taylor (1972)
On playing his last game of rugby for Bath: "I thought I would have a quiet pint ... and about 17 noisy ones." - Gareth Chilcott (1993)
