Brendan Rams Returns To AG’s For 2021
AUSTIN, TX (August 26, 2020) The AG’s are excited to welcome back front-row specialist, Brendan Rams. Rams’ monstrous build and eternal energy are central to the type of front row first year AG’s head coach Sam Harris is building in Austin.
“I’M BAAAAAACK!” Rams laughs.
Rams works as a personal trainer for Dallas-area adults and youth, while constantly building and tuning his own body.
“Brendan is a beast of a human, who wants to be where the action is,” says Sam Harris. “He adds loads of energy to our team, I’m expecting him to have a breakout season.”
Rams is 6’1” 285lbs enters his third professional season in Austin at 31 years old. In 2020, Rams came off the bench in four of five matches for a total of 84 minutes. He carried the ball 13 times for 58 meters and secured 12 tackles at a 92% made-tackle percentage.
Rams is from South Africa originally, playing his first rugby for St. Albans School and then St. Albans College in Pretoria. He played age-grade rugby with the Blue Bulls Rugby Union from the Under-16s through the Senior level. He also played with the University of Pretoria (Tuks), Pumas Under-21s senior level, and Valke senior level.
Rams made the move to Austin in 2014; joining the ranks of the local blue blood Division 1 Men’s Clubs: Austin Huns; and most recently, Austin Blacks. In 2019, Rams signed with the Austin Elite and helped the Blacks to the 2019 Men’s Club National Championship.
“People like Rams are a pleasure to coach,” says AG’s assistant coach Mark Gerrard. “Not just because of his excitement for the game, but because he wants to learn and win.”
Welcome back, Brendan Rams!
