Uruguayan International, Juan Echeverria has Committed to Austin Elite Rugby
ROUND ROCK (TX) – Austin Elite Rugby is eager to announce the commitment of Uruguayan international, Juan Echeverria. The tight-head prop has earned 43 caps since his debut with the Uruguayan Teros in 2014. Prior to his play with the Uruguayan national side, Echeverria played with La Olla Rugby Club in Florida, Uruguay. He then went on to play for Old Christians where he was a key component in the teams 3 Uruguayan Champion wins in 2015, 2016, and 2017. The decorated tight-head prop also hit the pitch in 2017 and 2018 for the Teros first Nations Cup championship wins, beating out Argentina in both Cup finals.
“I never imagined something like this, and I didn’t expect it either but I was aware of the possibility. It’s beautiful to see how you accomplish different stages throughout your career, and this is a very important stage in mine. I’ve been slowly adjusting to the idea of playing overseas and I know this is going to be a great experience.” – Juan Echeverria
“Nunca me imaginé algo así y no lo esperaba, aunque sabía que estaba latente esa posibilidad. Es algo muy lindo porque se van quemando etapas en la carrera y esta oportunidad es muy importante. Lo vengo asimilando con el paso de los días y va a ser una gran experiencia.” – Juan Echeverria
Head Coach, Alain Hyardet is excited for the trusted Teros player to join our front row, as he will bring a lot of experience to our scrum for the 2019 Major League Rugby season.
Forwards Coach Pedrie Wannenburg commented, “I am excited to to bring in another back rower, especially one of Dylan’s size. Dylans previous professional background will be integral to our game plan moving forward.”
